Easy gathering stitches

This is an easy way to gather your skirts and fabric edges that need a gathered edge. Follow these easy steps to learn how. 1. Place the edge of your fabric that you need to gather under your foot of the sewing machine and pull out a long piece of thread and bobin (the thread needs to be at least the length of your fabric you are gathering). 2. place this thread over top of the fabric you are sewing. 3. Change your stitch to the widest and longest zig zag stitch you can do with your machine. 4. begin to zig zag stitch over top of the thread that you have pulled out. 5. Once you have stitched to the end of your fabric cut the thread of the zig zag stitch and pull on the long thread that you have stitched over to gather your fabric. 6. You can now space the gathers evenly and pin in place to the fabric you would be sewing it to.
